Frequently Asked Questions

What is a property tax appeal?

A property tax appeal is a formal protest filed with your local County Appraisal District (CAD). If we believe your property's assessed value is higher than its actual market value or unfairly assessed compared to similar properties, we file an appeal to lower the assessed value, which lowers your tax bill.

What is Form 50-162?

Form 50-162 is the Texas Appointment of Agent for Property Tax Matters. By signing this document, you authorize EZProtest to represent you during the tax protest process. We cannot file a protest on your behalf without it.

Will my property taxes go up if I protest?

No. The Appraisal Review Board (ARB) cannot arbitrarily raise your property value simply because you filed a protest. The worst-case scenario is that your value remains exactly the same as the initial notice.

How do you calculate your fee?

Our fee is strictly contingency-based. We charge 25% of the estimated tax savings we generate for you. We calculate the savings by multiplying the reduction in assessed value by the previous year's tax rate. If we do not reduce your assessed value, our service is completely free.
